Joy Nakaishi
Mrs. Joy Nakaishi grew up in northern Idaho where she played high school volleyball, and won two national championships with the College of Southern Idaho. She then went to Washington State University on a volleyball scholarship was named MVP her senior year. After receiving her degree in General Studies and Secondary Physical Education, she coached at Lewis-Clark State College for one season, then at the University of Maine.
Joy has coached with Club Xtreme for the last 4 years and has finished in the top 3 in the region every year. In 2009, her 17 Black team finished 2nd in the region, qualifying for a bid to go to Nationals in Miami, Florida to compete in the Junior Olympics. When asked about her experience with Xtreme, Joy had this to say: "I enjoy working for Club Xtreme. We have worked hard to teach the skills of volleyball at the highest level possible and getting our players to the next level."
Joy was previously the head coach at Layton Christian High School. She led her team to the 2009 Utah 2A State Cahmpionship.
Joy recently took the job as the second assistant coach with the Weber State women's volleyball team.
Joy and her husband, Justin, live in Clearfield. One of the Nakaishi's main hobbies is teaching youth about sports along with life lessons and helping them go above and beyond their hopes and dreams.
